House
The house is 150m2 in two levels and contains kitchens , living room and bedroom on the top floor and big bedroom and office as well as bathroom,wc on the low level. A veranda is located at the upper level.Acces from outside is independent from the outside for both levels and there is also an internal stair connecting the two levels. The house is situated is the village of Pyrgos in the island of Tinos 22km from the port. Three beaches are located 2km away. Access to the house is easy since it is situated 30m from a car accesible road. The house is 500 year old design fully rebuilt in 1967 and renovated in 1999.Its location in the village is close to the main square of the village(less than 200m featuring a tall plane-tree) and has a view over the whole village and the surrounding area.
Tinos Island
Tinos is one of the Cyclades islands situated south east of Athens. High-speed and conventional ferries connect the island to mainland via the ports of Rafina, Pireaus and Lavrion. Travel times are: Rafina-Tinos 90 minutes (catamaran ferry), Lavrion-Tinos 3 hours (conventional ferry), and Pireaus-Tinos 3 and a half (catamaran ferry) 5 hrs (conventional ferry).
The islands of Myconos and Syros are only 30 mins away from Tinos by boat. There are bus and taxi services connecting the village and the port. The island road network is one of the best in Cyclades with more than 95% being bitumen paued.
Lavrion port is 30 minutes distance from the airport with easy acces. Pireaus is 2hrs distance from the airport but you have to cross the whole of Athens
Pyrgos Village
The island of Tinos and especially the village of Pyrgos is the birthplace of many notorious artists of marble sculpture which use the local resources of marble to express their art. Fidias himself who built Acropolis is believed to have been born in this island. Other artists like G.Halepas have contributed in creating one of the best marble sculpture schools in Europe.
There are numerous Tavernas-Cafes and other shops both in the village and the seaside resort of Panormos. The village is well-known for its notorious past and for its unique Cycladic Architecture which has been preserved for many years. The main feature of the village is the main square which is considered to be the number one picturesque place in all Cyclades. All decorated with white and local green marbles and marble sculptures. The lanes and buildings of the village are also decorated with traditional white marbles. The main graveyard is considered to be a marble sculpture museum with lots of cultural tourists visiting the site each year.
Due to its location, there is easy access to a wide range of beach and seaside villages where one can swim, sunbath or even enjoy the view and the delicious ‘meze’ from one of the local restaurants. As an alternative to the beach, there are the picturesque so-called Catholic villages with rich history and amazing culture. The main port is not less of an attraction featuring the famous cathedral of Maria which is both a pilgrimage for devotees from all around the world and a historic place where the first World War II battle took place.
